Statement from Lupe Rodriguez, Executive Director, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, on U.S. Appeals Court Decision

“We’re devastated to learn that people who rely on Medicaid are now blocked from getting care at Planned Parenthood health centers. More than half a million Latines choose Planned Parenthood for cancer screenings, STI testing, birth control, and more. Unfortunately, Latines and other communities of color who rely on Medicaid for their health care needs will be the most affected by this ruling. This will worsen an already dire healthcare landscape for our communities.

“Everyone—no matter who they are, where they live, what insurance they have, or how much money they make—should be able to get the health care they need from the providers they trust, including at Planned Parenthood.”
