Statement from Katherine Olivera, Director of Government Relations, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, on funding for immigration enforcement

“We’re outraged that Congress voted to fund immigration enforcement to the tune of nearly $70 billion, on top of the billions of dollars these agencies already received last year! Families across the country are struggling to make ends meet, yet xenophobic politicians are once again prioritizing the lawlessness of ICE and CBP over the health and constitutional rights of our communities. This is not what we need, and it will do nothing to make our lives safer or more affordable.

“We’ve had enough of this administration’s attacks on immigrant communities. We will not stand by while our cities are invaded, our neighbors are abducted, and our families lose health care, all to fund a deadly detention and deportation agenda. At Latina Institute, we will continue fighting so that everyone can live safe, healthy lives and raise their families with dignity.”
