Position Description: As a key member of the accounting team, the Senior Accountant is responsible for executing a wide range of accounting functions on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis that are critical to closing the books and providing senior management with timely and accurate financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also provide back-up support as needed to other financial team members to ensure that deadlines are met in a timely fashion.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Associate Director of Finance.

Location: Temporarily remote; New York, NY.

Responsibilities include:

  • Function as a leader in the Finance team to oversee finance activities including direct supervision of accounting work.
  • Upload payroll journal entry on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries; preparation of month-end financial reporting.
  • Manage monthly close out activities and analyze monthly expenses and departmental budgets.
  • Oversee and analyze finance reports for Program and Executive Directors.
  • Assisting with preparation of documents/schedules required by auditors during annual audit.
  • Complete weekly accounts payable cycle to include obtaining approval and payment of bills/expense reports/employee cash advance requests; Ensure payments are on par with vendor agreements/contracts.
  • Follow up on cash advance settlements.
  • Follow up on collection of receivables.
  • Prepare 1099’s and send to vendors and IRS by deadline.
  • Quarterly fixed assets depreciation.
  • Assist with the transition and trainings related to finance systems and tools.
  • Perform ad-hoc day-to-day finance activities as requested.

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 4+ Years of finance experience.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient MS office knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Ability of tracking budget expenses.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct a plus.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,000 based on experience. Our comprehensive package of benefits includes:
