JOB DESCRIPTION: Latina Institute seeks a bilingual (Spanish-English) individual who is passionate about reproductive justice for the National Field Trainer within the Community Mobilization department. The National Field Trainer is primarily responsible for working with national teams to help train grassroots leaders and activists in the reproductive justice modules and curriculum. The National Field Trainer will play a central role in planning, preparing, and facilitating the organization’s primary educational activities — the Latinas Organizing for Leadership & Advocacy (LOLA) training, Leadership Development Institute, as well as virtual and in-person education opportunities that reach Latina Institute’s audience across the country. The ideal candidate will have exemplary facilitation and organization skills, experience with popular education methodologies, strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, and demonstrated comfort in working both independently and collaboratively.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Education and Training. The National Field Trainer will also be responsible for delivering the organization’s modules to our base of supporters and activists, as well as Latina Institute staff, funders, partner organizations, and other audiences at conferences and academic settings. The National Field Trainer is responsible for quickly developing expertise in the organization’s main modules such as Get to Know Latina Institute, the RJ timeline, Latinas and abortion, what is organizing, public speaking, etc. and being able to communicate these themes in an accessible and effective fashion. They will play an important support role in the development of in-person as well as digital/online learning, helping in the technical production of video content and presentations, as well as assess the effectiveness of existing training programs and determine potential improvements and additions.

Position location: Remote, preference for those residing in our key states FL, NY, TX, or VA. This position requires 25% travel.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Serves as lead facilitator for Latina Institute national trainings.
  • Serves as lead Latina Institute staff in all Latina Institute trainings executed virtually and in-person for the national base of supporters and activists.
  • Helps state team staff and the State Field Trainer to execute Latina Institute trainings executed in-person and virtually in our field states (FL, NY, VA, and TX).
  • Ensures all co-facilitators/presenters are prepared to deliver training content.
  • Conducts train-the-trainer and similar trainings to build facilitation skills within designated Latina Institute staff and activists.
  • Works with the digital organizer on delivering monthly events and content.
  • Helps national team log activists learning journey in activist database.
  • Helps prepare national team staffers to deliver monthly educational presentations to activists.
  • Co-develops in-person and digital/online learning content, with guidance from Associate Director of Education and Training.
  • Informs and helps to update Latina Institute curricular resources.
  • Ensures that resources are appropriately inclusive of the diversity of experiences and needs within the Latina/x community.
  • Implements the appropriate translation/cultural adaptations of resources.
  • Shares feedback on effectiveness of modules following their implementation.
  • Develops presentations for various Latina Institute partners and venues, including funders and conferences, and presents said content.
  • Supports the department staff with technical assistance of key technological programs such as Teams, Zoom, Facebook & Instagram Lives, activist database entry in EveryAction and VAN.
  • Assists with on-going departmental projects, planning and function.


  • Minimum 2-5 years of professional experience in training/facilitation (preferably in community settings).
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Skilled at facilitating small-group activities and discussions as well as lectures to large groups.
  • Experience with popular education methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in public speaking.
  • Strong organizational skills to execute trainings during intensive and/or multi-day educational events.
  • Demonstrated cultural-competency skills with Latina/x, immigrant, and youth communities.
  • Proven ability to work as a team-player, and accept constructive criticism and feedback, while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Basic know-how about video editing and production.
  • Proficient computer skills to operate programs (Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in online trainings using Zoom, Facebook and/or Instagram Lives.
  • Knowledge of activist databases preferred (EveryAction, VAN).
  • Must be willing to travel 25% of time; driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of reproductive justice preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Concentrations in education, communication, nonprofit, public health, and social work are a plus
