Press Release
We are heartbroken by the passing of Dolores Huerta, a trailblazing organizer whose life transformed the fight for workers’ rights, women’s rights, immigrants’ rights, and the dignity of Latine communities.
Dolores taught generations of us that lasting change begins with people organizing together and believing in our collective power. From the fields of California to movements across the country, her leadership exemplified that organizing must be rooted in courage, persistence, and the belief that, ¡Sí, se puede!
At Latina Institute, and for me personally, her legacy has inspired and instructed how we organize for the health, dignity, and freedom of our communities. We are deeply grateful for the path Dolores helped build and for the generations of Latinas and organizers, like me, who found their power through her example.
We send our love and deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and everyone mourning her loss. We will honor her by continuing the work. As Dolores taught us, “every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world.
