WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) will honor civil rights leader Dolores Huerta — co-founder of the United Farm Workers, president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation and an outspoken advocate in support of the working poor, women’s rights, and children — at a gala to celebrate NLIRH’s 20th anniversary on April 14, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Emmy Award-winning journalist, producer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Giselle Fernández — former anchor for the CBS Early Show and the NBC Nightly News and currently the creator and host of the online interview series Big Shots — will serve as the emcee for the event.

                                                                                            Washington, D.C.

Founded in 1994 alongside the birth of the reproductive justice movement, NLIRH is the only national reproductive justice organization dedicated to advancing health, dignity, and justice for the United States’ 26 million Latinas, their families, and communities.

The 20th anniversary gala will honor the victories and vision of NLIRH and its supporters to guarantee the fundamental human rights to reproductive health, dignity, and justice.

NLIRH elevates Latina leaders, mobilizes families and communities, transforms cultural narratives, and catalyzes policy change to advance a reproductive justice agenda informed by the priorities and experiences of Latinas. Fighting for fair immigration policy, health equity, and affordable reproductive care, NLIRH serves as an authentic voice for Latinas, lifting up the voices of immigrant women, young parents, LGBTQ communities, and low-income people.

To kick off the celebration, a generous NLIRH patron is matching all contributions of $20 or more throughout the month of December. To make a donation, or to find other ways to contribute, visit the NLIRH website.
