The Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice Virginia seeks a part-time digital organizing intern to assist in the day-to-day workflow of Latina Institute Virginia and our ongoing local and digital campaign efforts. Over the course of 20 hours a week, the intern will be responsible for assisting our program in preparing for several digital events and campaigns over the coming months. In addition, interns will also assist work that includes but is not limited to issue-based community education, civic engagement initiatives, and campaigns. We are looking for committed individuals who are passionate about organizing to elevate Latina/x power in Virginia. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Sends meeting reminders and announcements to activists via WhatsApp 
  • Produce creative content for social media and a monthly newsletter 
  • Assist in the execution of rapid response social media 
  • Recommend new technologies & improvements to our work
  • Work on an independent digital project relating to reproductive justice in VA (e.g., promotional video for program, resource guide, series of graphics/gifs for campaigns 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Passion for digital organizing and reproductive justice 
  • Ability to engage potential activists and supporters through social media
  • Strong written and interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, and adaptive personality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to racial justice & promoting immigrant rights 
  • Bilingual proficiency: English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of Virginia’s political landscape is a plus 
  • Must live in VA, MD, or DC

SALARY:  $17/hour 

Potential internship dates are early February to June, with possibility to extend.
