2nd Annual Latina Week of Action for Reproductive Justice a big success!

Breaking News

We did it! Another successful Latina Week of Action for Reproductive Justice comes to a close.

This year, under the theme Caminamos: Justice for Immigrant Women we advocated for immigrant women's rights and for recentering gender in the immigration dialogue.

Our timing couldn't have been better. Just as the Week of Action was wrapping up, Department of Homeland Security announced they would be voiding the state contracts involved in the Secure Communities program, which effectively removes the right of states to opt out. We know how harmful this program is for immigrant women, which is why we'd been urging you all to take action and demand that Secretary Napolitano halt the program.

We'll keep up the pressure until we know that immigrant women's needs are being met.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Week of Action, and we look forward to engaging with you next year! You can see photos from our events on our facebook page.
