Berenice serves as the Operations Assistant at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health in the New York office where she provides administrative, information technology, and accounting support under the direction of the Operations Manager and the Senior Director of Operations and Finance.
 
Starting at a young age, Berenice has assisted as a translator and overseeing finances in her family. Additionally, she began to educate herself on immigration laws and policies after the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement affected a few of her family members’ lives. Berenice developed an interest in both finance and social justice issues.
 
Prior to joining NLIRH, Berenice was employed for 2 years in the Finance Department at Local 100 coordinating the cash flow of union dues. She also participated in rallies addressing Human Rights issues relating to Women, Immigration, and the LGBTQ community.
 
During her college career, she led fundraising events for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Trevor Project, and Planned Parenthood. She was also Treasurer of a group on campus and interned as a Tax Preparer at AARP. She was employed at her school’s Finance Department in offices such as Marketing, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Human Resources. She plans to continue her education in the near future.
 
Berenice holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
