Director of Community Mobilization Programs

NLIRH seeks a committed, experienced individual who is passionate about women’s issues to lead and manage our Community Mobilization Programs. The Director of Community Mobilization Programs will grow a diverse constituency, lead trainings, build coalitions and relationships with colleagues and partners as well as contribute to our public education campaigns. The Community Mobilization Program seeks to increase Latina visibility, cultivate well informed leaders and build state networks of activists that will inform and support our National Agenda and strengthen state and national reproductive justice activism. Candidates must have knowledge and commitment to reproductive health and rights and/or social justice issues, national and/or state organizing and research experience, as well as excellent training skills. This position will directly report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Overall program management and implementation of Community Mobilization Programs, including personnel development and management, budgeting and strategic planning
  • Lead, organize, plan and execute our LOLA (Latinas Organizing for Leadership and Advocacy) Trainings, national conferences and other complementary training efforts
  • Oversee maintenance of Latina Advocacy Networks located in different states around the nation
  • Build and cultivate relationships with colleague and partner organizations based on our priority states 
  • Manage national collaborations and coalitions that are part of Community Mobilization efforts
  • Oversee development of NLIRH Newsletters
  • Represent the organization at public speaking engagements and media outlets
  • Travel required

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in social/health sciences or education and 3-5 years of organizing and advocacy experience working for non-profits and/or non-governmental organizations on social justice, international development and/or humanitarian issues
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in both Spanish and English
  • Experience training diverse populations, especially the Latino community
  • Experience conducting and/or supporting qualitative research projects
  • Dedication and commitment to reproductive health and rights is a must

Associate Director of Policy

NLIRH seeks an experienced, resourceful and innovative individual with strong leadership skills and advanced analytical abilities to promote a national policy agenda designed to advance and protect the reproductive health and rights of Latinas. The Associate Director of Policy shall oversee the development and implementation of NLIRH’s national policy program; serve as NLIRH’s liaison in Washington, D.C.; and develop public education materials on health policy, immigration reform, reproductive health and other issues that pertain to reproductive justice. 

 

The duties of the Associate Director of Policy shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist in developing NLIRH’s policy positions, in consultation with the Director of Policy and Advocacy, on a range of reproductive health and rights issues;
  • Supervise drafting of legislative analysis, research and prepare policy briefs, fact sheets, public education campaign materials and all other policy related publications;
  • Build relationships with Congressional staff in order to advance NLIRH’s policy priorities;
  • Implement all Washington, D.C. policy-related events hosted by NLIRH;
  • Manage operations of Washington, D.C. office and maintain regular communication with the Director of Policy and Advocacy on administrative updates;
  • Hire, manage and supervise Washington D.C. policy staff, fellows, interns and volunteers;
  • Work with the Community Mobilization program staff to support advocacy campaigns and provide policy-related materials to NLIRH’s constituents and activists;
  • Conduct trainings and presentations on behalf of NLIRH at national conferences, events, and congressional meetings and briefings;
  • Represent NLIRH in national and local coalitions, and at Washington, D.C. events; and
  • Support the Executive Director and/or the Director of Policy and Advocacy on other general responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications: Law or Masters degree in Public Policy, Public Health or related field with a minimum of 2 years policy advocacy experience.  Candidates must have extensive knowledge of reproductive health and rights issues and/or social justice issues with experience in policy advocacy, community organizing and coalition building. Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communications skills; Bilingual (Spanish/English) oral and written skills are highly preferred.
