Virginia Latina Advocacy Network Field Coordinator

Alejandra serves as the Virginia Latina Advocacy Network (VA LAN) Field Coordinator, where she organizes to raise the voices of Latinas in Virginia for policy change at all levels of government on issues that impact their lives, women’s health care and other social justice issues

Alejandra has been an activist and organizer for the past three years, working with communities of color that are under-served and under-represented in her community.  Alejandra has been a staunch advocate for immigration reform and mass incarceration. She joined the initiatives of the Immigration Defense Project, Families for Freedom, Puente, FWD.US, and PICO amongst others. Alejandra is on the Board of Directors/Secretary of Las Adelitas Arizona. She was involved with the YWCA in Southern Arizona, teaching under the Latina Leadership Initiative. She was a Co-Chair for the League of United Latin American Citizens of Arizona (LULAC) 27th Annual Youth Leadership Conference planning committee, where she created workshops on political/civic engagement.

Alejandra has developed very strong ties in her community through grassroots organizing and plans to transfer those skills to the work she will be doing with NLIRH. Alejandra is currently pursuing her a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
